About the Artist
Maxine Simons Burton
Maxine Simons Burton was born and raised on the island of Bermuda. It was there that she developed her eye for color and an appreciation for natural beauty. From the performing to the visual arts, Maxine has no memory in her life of any time that has not included some form of creative expression.
While creating her artwork, Maxine experiences a peace and calmness which she translates through textured brush strokes and soothing colors. Quiet places, tender moments and cuddly creatures are often her inspiration. Maxine hopes that her expression of these special moments, feelings and insights captured on canvas are as healing to the viewer, as the creation process is for her. She finds fulfillment in knowing that her spirit has touched the lives of others through her artwork.
Maxine has received awards in both national and international competitions for her paintings. Using acrylics, pastels, paper, and glass beads and more, her portfolio is comprised of illustrations, portraits, murals, papier mache' bowls, and jewelry.
People are the spectrum from which Maxine works. She provides individuals of all ages with encouragement, teaching them how to channel their creative gifts through various art mediums. From elementary schools and college settings to grief support groups and art camps, Maxine is striving to cultivate art in the hearts of others.
